Nano Brows Healing — A Day-by-Day Guide

One of the biggest concerns before booking Nano Brows is the healing process. Will they scab? Will the colour change? How long until they look natural? This guide walks you through every stage — and why each phase matters.

The 6 Nano Brows Healing Stages

Nano brows heal in six predictable stages over roughly six weeks. Every set of brows moves through all six, and knowing which stage you are in stops the panic that most people feel somewhere around day eight.

  • Stage 1, the bold stage (day 1). Brows look darker, sharper and stronger than the final result.
  • Stage 2, the darkening stage (days 2 to 3). Pigment settles and the brows look their boldest.
  • Stage 3, the scabbing and flaking stage (days 4 to 7). Light flaking begins. This is the stage where the result is won or lost.
  • Stage 4, the ghosting stage (days 7 to 10). Brows look faded, patchy, sometimes almost gone. This alarms nearly everyone and it is completely normal.
  • Stage 5, the colour return stage (weeks 2 to 4). Pigment resurfaces and the shape evens out.
  • Stage 6, the healed result (weeks 4 to 6). Colour stabilises and the strokes look natural.

Each stage is explained in detail below, with what you should and should not do at each point.

Day 1: Immediately After Treatment

Right after your appointment, your brows will appear darker and more defined than the final result will be. The shape will look crisp and fresh, and there may be slight redness around the area. This is completely normal — the skin has just been worked on and is in its initial healing stage.

Days 2–3: Darkening Phase

During the first few days, brows may become slightly darker and thicker in appearance as the pigment settles. The area can feel a little dry. At this stage, many clients worry their brows look too bold — but this is temporary. The colour will soften considerably over the coming weeks.

Days 4–7: Flaking & Light Scabbing

This is the most important stage of healing. You may notice light flaking or peeling, small scabs forming, and a patchy appearance as flakes fall away. ⚠️ Do not pick, scratch, or rub the area — this can lift pigment and affect your final result.

Days 7–10: The "Ghosting" Phase

After the flaking stage, brows may appear much lighter or even faded. Some areas may look uneven or patchy. This is called the ghosting phase — and it's completely normal. The pigment is still settling beneath the surface of the skin. Your brows aren't gone; they're just healing underneath.

Worried your healing is not going to plan? Ghosting and patchiness at this stage are normal, but not every result settles the way it should, and work done elsewhere sometimes needs correcting. If you are unhappy with how your brows have healed, whether they were done here or by another artist, send me a photo on WhatsApp and I will tell you honestly whether a correction is possible.

Weeks 2–4: Colour Returns

During this stage, colour gradually comes back, the brows begin to even out, and the final shape becomes clearer. Patience is key here — your brows are still healing beneath the surface and the result can change noticeably week by week.

If you are still deciding between techniques, it is worth understanding the difference in healing between powder and hair stroke brows before you book.

Weeks 4–6: Healed Results

By this point, brows have softened into a natural finish, colour has stabilised, and hair strokes look more blended and realistic. This is when you'll see your true result — and for most clients, it's a significant transformation from what they saw in week one.

The 6–8 Week Top-Up

Around 6–8 weeks after your first treatment, you'll return for a top-up session. This is used to perfect the shape, add any missing strokes, and adjust colour if needed. This step is essential for long-lasting, flawless results and is included in the price of your Nano Brows treatment at Ska Brows.
